Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up in New York City, Mitchell received a degree in English literature from The University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was employed as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. She became a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed situated in Washington DC. She became a Washington general reporter for NBC News two years later. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign correspondent in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell appeared as both a host and panelist in the TV news program Meet the Press. She was a member of a panel for the 1988 presidential debates featuring George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan in office from 1981 to 1988. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy issues, such as the arm control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended many summits with the help of the President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
