Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March in 1991. She is an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. The first album she released for the label on Oct. 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox first released songs online in the year 2012. She released her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013, five Finger Discount. In 2014 Ari Lennox released her own single Bound, as well as her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. Sweat It is included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21 2015. In the following year, her music circulated all over the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some possible references for Rihanna. On December 8 it was revealed that she had officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat, a track she sang together with Cozz on her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. The 21st of October, 2016, her debut EP was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track, and performed on with the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. Also, she was featured on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus together with Bas, her labelmates. Ari Lennox's debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th of July, 2018. The album's first single, called Whipped Cream The album's first single, Whipped Cream came out September 5, 2018 with the music video. On the 9th of November the singer released two new singles: forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Two additional singles were also released on the 11th of November with the titles Pedigree and One. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby then made an appearance in the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. The singer released the single as a way in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. A music video debuted 20 February 2019 in order to accompany the track. Within one week, it had over 3 million views. As a supporting act, she toured together with 6LACK during December 2018 on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
